Crewe commemorates the 110th anniversary of the Battle of the Somme

I was proud to attend an incredibly moving tribute to Cheshire soldiers killed in the First World War’s Battle of the Somme in June 1916.  I joined local mayors and youth cadet forces for a special short parade and remembrance ceremony before a fantastic wartime show inside the beautiful Crewe Lyceum Theatre.

A standing ovation went to Crewe-born composer and theatre director Adam Shilton who put together a fantastic evening of WW1 music, dance, drama and song, supported by Crewe Brass Band, Fox Dance Academy and dozens of talented local performers.

A massive round of applause to everyone who contributed to this amazing evening.
