High Sheriff Community Award to Northwich Sapphires Netball Club

Many congratulations to Northwich Sapphires Netball Club, who are a real jewel in the crown of Cheshire’s brilliant community sports clubs.

Since 2003, they have built up an amazing, successful and supportive club, attracting mainly girls and women, from Under 8s to topflight competitors and the ‘Nice N’Easy’ adult teams, and now welcome boys and men too!

Founded by Jan Turley, an experienced netball coach and England Netball talent scout, the club has expanded over the last two decades, to include several hundred members, playing topflight netball, as well as offering keep fit and specialist netball training to new recruits. 

They are a brilliant organisation, and I was delighted to present their Head Coach, Lauren Watson, with my first official High Sheriff Award for their wonderful role in promoting community sport.
