Happy 50th Birthday to the wonderful Waterways Museum in Ellesmere Port

As a former employee of both British Waterways and the Canal & River Trust, celebrating the half century of the National Waterways Museum (Boat Museum) in Ellesmere Port was a special event, very dear to my heart.

It has been wonderful to play even a tiny, tiny role in its incredible story to turn a derelict port into a successful museum, preserving one of the largest and most significant collections of historic canal barges and cargo boats in the country.

A fascinating new exhibition tracing the museum’s history is being staged as part of the celebrations and the Canal & River Trust invite you to enjoy lots of special events over the summer.

Step on board – don’t miss the boat!! Find out more…
